Let me introduce myself and this site. My name is Mairi, I live in Scotland and selling T-shirts is not my day job. For many years now I have been a member of the Scotland Malawi partnership (also not my day job). Malawi is a country which has given me so much, this site is an attempt for me to give back. I hope it will be a place where many Scottish and Malawian artists can use their talents to benefit themselves and Malawi. Every artist who sells their art through this site has agreed to donate at least 50% of the profit to projects in Malawi. As I don't have a single artistic bone in my body my role in all of this is the run the online store, attract artists and coordinate the donations. All of the profit from this site is spilt between the artists and the projects in Malawi. It's a big win win all round. I have an easy way to raise money; you get to buy ethically made, environmentally friendly clothes with unique designs; the artists get to show their talent and earn from it and the projects in Malawi have a new source of funding. So really it's a win, win, win... win.<\/p>

The site is called ROFL which stands for 'Reach Out For Life' as that is the name of the Non- Governmental Organisation in Malawi that I am raising money for. You may not have heard of them as they are a small, grass roots, Malawian run organisation. You can find them on their Facebook page and Twitter. Their focus is on helping communities, education, health, youth, empowering girls and due to the current pandemic, raising awareness and giving practical support against Covid-19.<\/p>

I have been connected with this organisation since my friend, Itcan Mpithi, first founded it. He is a Malawian who after receiving an education thanks to a UK charity wanted to do the same for others in his country. His enthusiasm, ambition and passion for helping others is truly inspiring. I have been lucky enough to see the work of Itcan and his team first hand. I will of course be sharing my stories of Malawi with you and keeping you up to date with ROFLs work. So far I'm super excited to be collaborating with some very talented Scottish artists. In the future I'm hoping to have just as many designs direct from Malawian artists. You will be introduced to the artists soon. To me it seems perfectly natural that Scottish and Malawian art should stand side by side. Our two countries go back a long way and have so many links, I am prepared to bet that if you are reading this in Scotland, you have either been to Malawi yourself or know someone who has.<\/p>
